An Inconvenient Truth is a 2006 documentary film directed by Davis Guggenheim about former United States Vice President Al Gore's campaign to educate citizens about global warming.

Former Vice President of the United States, narrowly beaten in 2000 by George Bush has traveled since the United States to alert public opinion about the dangers of climate change at work on the planet, Including the greenhouse effect.

In conference, Al Gore shows, with figures, how real the threat is. A worldwide cataclysm is not excluded for years to come. How to avoid it ? Going back to the causes of evil, not managing its consequences. According to the speaker, industrial activity, overconsumption of energy must be controlled in order to check a process that is not yet irreversible ...

 

The movie deals with the global warming effects and causes. It uses a comprehensive slide show that, by his own estimate made in the film, he has given more than a thousand times.

Premiering at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and opening in New York City and Los Angeles on May 24, 2006, the documentary was a critical and box-office success, winning two Academy Awards for Best Documentary Feature and Best Original Song.

He obtained several others awards including : Oscar of best documentary (2007); Critic's choice Movie Award for a documentary (2007); Producers Guild of America Award : Stanley Kramer price (2007); Quill Award for History/current events/politics (2006); The Washington D.C. Area Film Critics Association Award for Best Documentary (2007) and many others.

The film grossed $24 million in the U.S. and $26 million in the foreign box office, becoming the tenth highest grossing documentary film to date in the United States.

Albert Arnold "Al" Gore, Jr. (born March 31, 1948) is an American politician and environmentalist who served as the 45th Vice President of the United States from 1993 to 2001 under President Bill Clinton

Gratuated of a Bachelor of Art from Harvard he also did the Viet Nam war even if he was against that. 

 

Gore has received a number of awards including the Nobel Peace Prize (joint award with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, (2007), a Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album (2009) for his book An Inconvenient Truth and many others.
